Tech Tip: Reading Images With Windows 10 Narrator
This is your Tech Tip for May from your Technology Committee.
This month we are going to use Narrator, the built-in screen reader for Windows 10. It has a new feature to read pictures or images that have no text associated with the picture. This only works with Windows 10.
You start Narrator with the keystroke Ctrl + Windows Key + Enter. Then follow these steps:
- Move to the photograph to be described.
- Press Shift + Caps Lock and the letter D all together.
- Narrator will say "image being captured".
- If the picture can be described you will hear the best guess it can provide.
This has been shown to describe a photo of the president with the clothing he is wearing and sometimes even the room where he is.
Give it a try.
